Drain Lining & Localised Structure Repair

If your pipework if damaged, ground excavation and pipe replacement may not be necessary.

Drain relining is the process of attaching a new protective layer to the inside of an existing pipe. This layer shields the pipework against any future damage such as cracks or breaks that may lead to bursts and fissures. Drain relining is typically used for diameter ranges of 100mm to 1200mm.

    What We Do

At KD Drainage, we first remove and clean any blockages from the pipe. A flexible liner impregnated with resin is pushed through the drain, whilst an airbag is also pushed through to mould the resin to the pipe. The liner is heated, and once cooled will mould exactly to the sides of the original pipe. Once the airbag is removed, it leaves behind a smooth new pipe inside the original. This method avoids the major upheaval and logistical nightmare of excavating and replacing pipes.

Localised structure repair (LSR) uses the same method as drain relining but corrective work is only carried out on a small section of the pipework. LSR, also known as drain patching, is typically used on pipework with a diameter of 100mm to 450mm and a length of 1 metre.

Benefits of Drain Relining & LSR

Both drain relining and LSR are a cheaper and mess-free alternative to traditional pipework repair. As a care home, the last thing you want is to disturb your residents with drain excavation. The trenchless method we use at KD Drainage ensures that ground excavation is unnecessary. Both drain relining and LSR last up to 50 years.

It is vital to have one of KD Drainage’s specialist engineers assess the damage of your pipe to ascertain whether drain relining or LSR is possible or whether the pipework needs to be replaced.

If you are unsure whether you require LSR or drain relining contact us today to receive direct advice from our specialist engineers. We offer drain relining and LSR throughout London and Kent to both domestic and commercial clients.

You can read more detailed information about drain relining and LSR in our blog posts.

    Water Main Repairs

When a water main (the main pipework that runs underground) becomes damaged or broken the water supply often flows from the pipes into roads and properties, causing damage. A burst water main can be a stressful experience, especially if it is your responsibility to get it repaired- we are here to help relieve this stress.

With more than 20 years’ experience, we aid a range of commercial clients, including residential care homes, with water main repairs throughout London, Kent and surrounding areas.

KD Drainage are here to help in any drainage emergency at any time of day, including an instant response for burst water main repairs.

If you experience a damaged water main shut off your water and call us immediately on 01622 919012.

What causes a water main to burst?

A water main could rupture for a variety of reasons including the corrosion or rusting of pipework, pressure changes within the pipe and the surrounding ground, or breaks and cracks.

You can find out more information in our blog post on Water Main Repairs including information on the causes and signs of a burst water main, images of water main repair work carried out by KD Drainage, and more.

    Insurance

KD Drainage also provide our clients with a free mediation service between the policyholder and insurance company if you are claiming on your insurance. We will ensure that you have a stress-free experience from start to finish whilst handling your claim.

    Sewer Connections

If you have a privately owned drainage system, KD Drainage can connect this to the main sewerage system. It is essential that your private drainage system is connected to a main sewer or a treatment plant.

What is a mains sewer connection?

A mains sewer connection is a connection from your property’s private drainage system to the main pipework connected to the sewage system. This pipe transports sewage from various locations to the sewage treatment plant.

A private drainage system can typically be located in roads, footpaths or gardens.

What are the benefits of sewer connections?

Sewer connections ensure all sewage and waste is guided away from your building in the most reliable and safest manner possible, reducing the build-up of waste.

As a residential care home, a fully functioning sewage system is vital for caring for patients, especially if it is being used regularly by a high volume of people.

Compared to a connection to a treatment plant, a connection to a main sewer is more economically viable in the long-term. A main treatment plant needs to be maintained and cleaned, typically on a yearly basis. This is not necessary with a main sewer connection.

How do KD Drainage install sewer connections?

Our engineers will need to visit your site to locate your drains and establish any site requirements. This will be carried out free of charge!

We would then have to send a request to the local water authorities for a drainage plan. Once this is complete, we can apply on your behalf for the connection of your sewer to the main drain.

When this is accepted, we will organise the job from the beginning to the end. This includes all required road/footpath closures, diversion routes and road applications to the local authorities.

At KD Drainage, our engineers hold the required NRSWA certification, allowing us to fully deliver these projects.

A CCTV survey may also be required upon the initial inspection of your site during the application for a drainage plan.

    Why choose KD Drainage?

At KD Drainage, our drainage experts have more than 20 years’ experience in the installation of main sewer connections.

In the instance that you do not have an on-site builder to install a private drain, KD Drainage are also able to provide this service.
