We work with a range of both domestic and other commercial clients including restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, housing associations, letting agencies, agricultural properties and care homes.

Please see below work carried out for University College of London. Our engineers arrived at the site and found water pooling in the lab and all sinks were found to be backed up with water. The red light indicated a fault with the pump, so an electrician was contacted and it was arranged for him to meet our engineer on-site to isolate the pump for further investigation. Our engineer removed the submersible pump and tested the float, yet found this to be sticking. The float was freed from its stuck position and tested again to find it working and a pump was re-installed to lower the water level. After this, the fault light turned green indicating the pump is working. Finally, our engineer tested the system of blockages by running all sinks in the lab for ten minutes.

Drain Lining & Localised Structure Repair

If it is discovered that your drainage infrastructure or pipework is damaged in any way, you may want to consider drain relining or localised structure repair (LSR). Both services offer a cheaper, mess-free alternative to traditional drain repair methods such as ground excavation.

Benefits of Drain Relining & LSR

As a school, college, or University the last thing you want is the disturbance of ground excavation- with drain relining and LSR, this is unnecessary. Drain relining is the process of attaching a new protective layer to the inside of an existing pipe. This layer acts as a shield, protecting the pipework against any damage such as cracks or breaks for up to 50 years. The trenchless method we use ensures that drain relining is mess-free and avoids the disruption of excavating pipework. Drain relining is typically used for drains with diameter ranges of 100mm to 1200mm.

    What We Do

At KD Drainage, we first remove and clean any blockages from the pipe. A flexible liner impregnated with resin is pushed through the drain, whilst an airbag is also pushed through to mould the resin to the pipe. The liner is heated, and once cooled will mould exactly to the sides of the original pipe. Once the airbag is removed, it leaves behind a smooth new pipe inside the original. This method avoids the major upheaval and logistical nightmare of excavating and replacing pipes.

Localised structure repair (LSR), also known as drain patching, follows the same method as drain relining but is carried out on a smaller patch of pipework. At KD Drainage, we tend to work with pipework with a diameter of 100mm to 450mm and a length of 1 metre.

You can find out more information about these services in our drain relining and localised structure repair blog posts.

Please see below Localised Structure Repair work carried out at the University College of London Estates by our drainage engineers.

Our KD Drainage engineers attended the UCL site for the report of a collapsed drain from DS from MH1. A CCTV inspection determined that the collapse was at approximately 2.7m - 3m down the run. An excavation was then carried out near the collapse and the broken pipework was removed with a length of 225mm PVC being installed. Our engineers connected these to the run using localised structural liners. The new pipework was surrounded with 10mm shingle and the backfill was made. The top was then finished with concrete.

It is essential to have one of our specialist engineers assess the damage of your pipe to ascertain whether drain relining is possible or whether the pipework needs to be replaced.

If you are unsure whether you require drain patching or drain relining please contact us today to receive direct advice from our specialist engineers. We offer drain relining and LSR throughout London and Kent to both domestic and commercial clients.

    Sewer Connections

KD Drainage can connect your private drainage system to the main sewer ensuring all sewage is channelled away from your property in the most efficient way possible, reducing the build-up of waste. As a school, college or University, a functioning drainage infrastructure if vital if in constant use.

If you own a private drainage system, this should be connected to a main sewer or a treatment plant. These are typically located in roads and footpaths but can sometimes be found in gardens.

In the instance that you do not have an on-site builder to install a private drain, KD Drainage are also able to provide this service. If you are a school, college or University in Kent or London and are interested in this service, contact KD Drainage today.

Sewer Connection or Sewage Treatment Plant?

A connection to a main sewer is cheaper in the long-term compared to a treatment plant. A main treatment plant needs to be maintained, typically on a yearly basis. This is not necessary with a main sewer connection.

    How We Install Sewer Connections?

Initially, our experienced engineers will need to visit your site, free of charge, to identify the location of your drains and any site requirements. Once this has been carried out, we will need to request a drainage plan from the local authorities before applying for a sewer connection.

At KD Drainage, we manage the entire process from start to finish including all required road/footpath closures, diversion routes and road applications to the local authorities, guaranteeing you have a stress-free experience.

During the initial stages of sewer connection installation, it may be necessary for a CCTV survey to be carried out.

    At KD Drainage:

    • Our drainage specialists have 20+ years’ experience in the installation of main sewer connections.
    • Our engineers hold the required NRSWA certification to carry out sewer connections to the highest standards.
    • We commit to a 2-hour response time.
    • We guarantee out of hours emergency call outs, 24/7, 365 days a year
