Keep getting blockages but don’t know why? Request a free quote for a CCTV Survey.

If you are unsure on the current state of your plumbing and drainage system, KD Drainage can help.

A CCTV Drain Survey is an extensively detailed, in-depth inspection of all drainage and pipework using advanced CCTV survey camera equipment and technology. The CCTV camera is inserted into the drain and/or pipework, identifying any issues such as blockages, cracks, collapsed pipes and more, in real-time. CCTV surveys are used to show the condition of your drains and pipes as well as support and carry out pipe maintenance, repairs, replacement, and restoration.

If any issues are identified, we can offer you a fixed quote to fix any problems or damage.

How to Prevent Blocked Drains in the Hospitality Sector

Whilst KD Drainage is there 24/7 to assist you with your plumbing and drainage requirements, there are steps you can take if you are a restaurant, bar or cafe that help prevent your drains from becoming blocked:

    1. Ensure all plates are scraped properly. This will ensure large amounts of food are not clogging your pipes.
    2. Never pour any fats, oils or grease down the sink especially if they are hot. Allow them to cool down and dispose of them in a container.
    3. Install a grease trap to catch all fats, oils and grease, allowing only the clean water to escape down the drain.
    4. Once you have a grease trap installed, schedule maintenance checks and regularly clean it to prevent having a grease clogged drain.
    5. Schedule planned maintenance for routine checks on your drains and pipes with KD Drainage. We can raise any issues and offer you a fixed quote for repairs.

    Grease Traps

A grease trap catches water containing fats, oils and grease before it flows into the drainage system, allowing the clean water to escape. This reduces the clogging of fats, oils and grease in any drains or pipework, ensuring your drains and pipes stay unclogged for a longer period of time. A grease trap is recommended for restaurants, pubs and cafes, hotels, schools/universities/colleges, care homes, bakeries, and other environments where cooking may take place on a large scale.

Please see below the installation of a grease trap for one of our clients carried out by KD Drainage. Our engineer removed the old pipework and installed an industrial-sized grease trap.

    Planned Preventative Maintenance Contracts

Our assistance to you does not stop after the first visit.

KD Drainage also offer 3-month, 6-month and 12-month planned maintenance contracts. This is a scheduled, routine check on all drainage, plumbing, grease traps and guttering infrastructure. With regular maintenance checks, our engineers at KD Drainage can help prevent any future drainage issues or the clogging of drains and pipework, saving you money in the long-term.

For a restaurant, café, or bar, planned maintenance is particularly important if fats, grease and oils are used on a daily basis. On average, your drains and plumbing infrastructure should be checked 4 times a year.

    Benefits of Planned Maintenance

With regular planned drain maintenance, you can take the preventative actions needed to ensure your drains and pipework are kept in check, preventing drainage issues that may stop your business running as usual and avoiding customer disappointment. KD Drainage can also schedule regular CCTV surveys alongside this, resulting in a detailed report on any damage or issues within pipework.

Planned maintenance is not only carried out for pipework but also for grease traps. Grease traps will need to be cleaned regularly by an experienced engineer to ensure they work as effectively as possible.

Drain Relining & Localised Structure Repair

If your pipework is damaged in any way, drain excavation may not be is necessary. KD Drainage offer drain relining and localised structure repair (LSR) as a mess-free, cheaper alternative. Essentially, drain relining gives you a fresh set of pipes without having to buy and install brand new pipework.

Drain relining is the process of attaching a new coating to the inside of an existing pipe, creating a protective shield that helps to prevent any future cracks or damage for up to 50 years. The trenchless method we use ensures that drain relining is a mess-free alternative to traditional drain repairs as it avoids the disruption of excavating pipework. If you operate in the hospitality sector the last thing you want is to disrupt your customers’ experience with ground excavation- with drain relining, this is unnecessary.

Typically, this method is used for drains with diameter ranges of 100mm to 1200mm.

Localised structure repair (LSR), also known as drain patching, can be carried out if your pipework has a smaller diameter than this. With LSR, we tend to work with pipework with a diameter of 100mm to 450mm and a length of 1 metre. Localised Structure Repair uses the same method and has the same benefits as drain relining but is carried out on a smaller portion of pipework.

lease see pictures below of drain relining and LSR carried out by our drainage engineers.

It is essential to have one of our specialist engineers assess the damage of your pipe to ascertain whether drain relining is possible or whether the pipework needs to be replaced.

If you are unsure whether you require drain patching or drain relining please call us on 01622 919012 or email info@kddaa.co.uk to receive direct advice from our specialist engineers. We offer drain relining and LSR throughout London and Kent to both domestic and commercial clients.

    Sewer Connections

If you own a private drainage system, this should be connected to either the main drain system or a sewer treatment plant.

A sewer connection connects pipework from your property to the main sewage system. This reduces the build-up of waste by transporting sewage from various locations to the sewage treatment plant in an efficient, secure way.

As a restaurant, bar, or cafe this is important if your drainage infrastructure in constant, daily use by customers.

Private drainage systems are typically located in roads and footpaths, or less commonly in gardens.

    How We Install Sewer Connections

At KD Drainage, our engineers hold the required NRSWA certification to carry out this work.

    • Our engineers will visit your site free of charge to identify the location of your drains and any site constraints or requirements.
    • We will then send a request for a drainage plan to the local authorities. A CCTV survey may also be required.
    • The next step will be to apply for a new sewer connection.
    • After this application has been approved, KD Drainage will manage the entire sewer connection process from start to finish. This includes all required road/footpath closures, diversion routes and road applications to the local authorities.

    Benefits:

    1. Reduced maintenance costs compared to a treatment plant: the main treatment plant needs to be maintained and cleaned yearly.
    2. A sewer connection does not require regular maintenance.

At KD Drainage, our drainage experts have extensive experience in the installation of main sewer connections, ensuring you will receive the highest-quality service.

In the instance that you do not have an on-site builder to install a private drain, KD Drainage are also able to provide this service.

See below the process of a sewer connection installation at KD Drainage.
