Localised Structure Repair (LSR), commonly known as drain patching is very similar to drain relining. Drain relining attaches a new drain lining to the inside of an existing pipe, creating a protective layer. You can read about this in more detail on our page and blog post covering all details of drain relining.
LSR involves the process of relining a certain area of the drain, rather than the entire pipe. It tends to be used in areas where traditional drain excavation is difficult or is awkward to get to. It is used for smaller cracks and breaks in pipework where a full structural relining job may not be necessary. This is cheaper and better for smaller pipes.
#1- Cost-effective- the method of LSR is more cost-effective and less expensive than the process of drain excavation due to being faster and less disruptive.
#2- Less disruption– both drain relining and patching are less disruptive than drain excavation as our trenchless method means that no groundwork must be dug up.
#3- Quick Procedure- drain patching is a quick and effective solution to any cracks, breaks, root infestation or damage in any smaller pipework. Due to the fact it is a smaller part of the pipework, the process is much quicker.
Drain patching and relining are both guaranteed to last up to 50 years.
At Kent Drainage, we repair blistered pitch fibre or crushed pipework in diameters of 100mm to 450mm and a length of 1 metre. Corrective work can include re-forming the pipe if necessary and then installing the patch liner.
A flexible liner impregnated with resin is pushed through the drain, whilst an airbag is also pushed through to mould the resin to the pipe. The liner is heated, and once cooled will mould exactly to the sides of the original pipe. Once the airbag is removed, it leaves behind a smooth new pipe inside the original. This method avoids the major upheaval and logistical nightmare of excavating and replacing pipes.
We tend to work with pipework with a diameter of 100mm to 450mm and a length of 1 metre. If the damaged pipework has a wider diameter and longer length than this, you may want to consider drain relining. Click here to read more.
The cost of LSR varies per job. Various factors such as the condition of the pipework are considered. However, we operate on a low hourly rate and there is a no call out charge. For more information, please request a free quote.
In conjunction with our drain relining service, our customers are able to negotiate bends and offset joints and all types of pipe material can be considered for renovation.
With 20 years+ experience, our fully trained, experienced engineers specialise in drain repairs, drain relining, drain maintenance, renewing pipework, CCTV surveys, water main repairs and more. We have a 2-hour response time, no hidden fees, fully equipped vehicles and a 24/7 emergency call-out service, 365 days a year.
We work with clients such as Kier, University College of London, Amey, Atlas and Nottingham Grounds Maintenance to name a few, and offer our services to both commercial and domestic customers.
